My Dad, Rex Brown, discovered this naturally occurring hybrid on our farm. During a bad drought it was the only thing knee deep and green on a pasture. We decided to plant some in a test plot and It did well, so we planted a lot more. We tried to get the universities to look at our grass, but they have not taken an interest...so here we are. It will make a big cutting by 10 May in NE Texas, and can easily yield 15 rolls to the acre in a season.
Consistently high yields with high protein and TDN numbers. We typically get 5 rolls to the acre per cutting and have seen clippings test over 20% protein after four weeks of growth.
We have a limited supply of sprigs and tops available this year and will have horse hay available as well in the near future!
